Liebster Award.

Last weekend, when in London, I checked my WordPress-app to see if my scheduled post had gone up. It was then I noticed I had a visitor who came to my blog via a link on another blog. Apparently I had been nominated for the Liebster Award by silentnightreviews!
This award recognizes new bloggers, so I am honoured to be nominated and know that people like my writings and ramblings. Thank you very much for this, Alexandra, it is so appreciated!

Let’s start with the eleven questions Alexandra left for me.
1. If you could spend one day in any fictional world, which one would it be and why?(Book, movie, TV show)
Easy one. I would go to Hogwarts, even though one day would be not enough to do all the things I would want to. Still, in one day I hope I can attend some cool classes, peruse the castle and have some Hogsmeade candy and drinks.
2. What is your favorite book?
How I hate this question.. I’ve read so many great books that it is hard to choose my ‘favourite’.. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (J.K. Rowling) for one, is one of my favourite books. But I also have to mention Robin Hobb’s Farseer Trilogy, and .. and.. You catch my drift, don’t you?
3. What novel would you want to be made into a movie and who would play the lead character?
I think Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn would be a lot of fun to watch on the big screen. As for who would play Vin, I’d say Jennifer Lawrence. I’m impressed by the diversity in her acting, so I believe she could pull this off.
4. What is your favorite quote?
I don’t really have one, to be honest.
5. What format are you most comfortable reading in?(paperback, hardback, ebook, audiobook)
Paperback, without a doubt. I have a strong preference for physical books – can’t stand audiobooks and eReading is kind of ok – and paperbacks are easier to handle. Also, since I like to own a lot of my books, paperbacks – especially the mass market ones – are way cheaper than the hardbacks.
6. If money was no issue, where would you travel and why?
The Nordic countries – Norway, Sweden, Finland, … – and Australia. I would also like to revisit America.
7. Ice cream or cake, and which flavor?
Both? If I have to choose, I’d go with ice cream, either a fruity flavour (passion fruit, lemon, ..) or a sweet Ben & Jerry’s.
8. Biggest pet peeve?
My bookish pet peeve would be lending out books and not getting them back in the condition I gave them. It doesn’t have to be pristine, but if I get it back manhandled…
9. Who would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?
I’m not one to swoon over fictional characters, so I have no fictional boyfriends. One that is eligible, however, is Atticul O’Sullivan from the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. I really like his personality and he’s quite the looker as well. Never mind that he’s 21 centuries old..
10. What book made you feel the most emotion?(Happiness, sadness, anger)
Any Harry Potter can do that from the fourth onwards. Also, Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb pulled my heartstrings quite a lot.
11. Why did you decide to start blogging?
I’ve been blogging for quite some time now. Before this one, I had a Blogspot account but that one didn’t really work out for me, so I switched to this one.
My main motivation for blogging is still the same, however. I am quite the reader, but no one in my close vicinity reads the kind of books I like to read. So I have no gushing- or ranting-buddy. Blogging gives me just the platform for that and as a nice bonus, I get to reach out to some really nice people who also like to read.

And now, eleven random facts about me:
1. The days cats and dogs will start their war, I’ll side with the feline kind.
2. I am always watching different series and obsessing over one or the other. Thus I am prone to binging. As of now, I have seen quite some great series, but my favourite remains Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
3. Despite my obsession with different series, I’m not that big on movies. Don’t get me wrong, I do like movies, but I just like series better. Especially long movies don’t always manage to keep me invested. So it has to be a really good film to keep me glued to my seat. If not, I’ll opt out or doze off – I’m looking at you, Avatar!
4. I need variety in my reading, so even though I can get highly invested in a series, I have to read other books between installments.
5. My favourite holiday destinations are all the rainy kind, being the UK, Scotland and Ireland.
6. The games I prefer are all of the same kind, being Fantasy games. My favourites are Legend Of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Fire Emblem. Even though I’m turning 27 in November, I do like to play some PokΓ©mon once in while.
7. I am very much an evening person. If I don’t have to work the next day, I like to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and a book or my current series obsession. More often than not, it gets way past midnight when I do so and I really have to kick myself off the couch and into bed.
8. I graduated last year as a psychologist and am currently employed at a high school for kids with autism.
9. My prefered hot beverage is tea – no matter which one, but I can’t do without my Earl Grey and Yellow Label with milk. I do like coffee, but I like tea better.
10. Despite being an avid reader, I don’t like the idea of Readathons. I like reading challenges, but rushing through books just for the sake of reading as much as you can in a certain amount of time just doesn’t appeal to me.
11. My favourite colour is blue.

    • I love the graphics of FF3 DS and FF9, but as far as the story goes, my weakness is FF4 and FF12 and 12-2. My first ever was Tactics Advance, so that one is quite special too πŸ™‚
      What are yours?

      • Ooh, I haven’t played FF4 and FF9 (nor FF12 and 12-2 for that matter)! FF9 is high on my to-play list, but getting my hands on a PS1 disk has proven to be very difficult.

I played it on the GBA, but its 3DS opening moves me. Theme of Love is one of my favourites. :’)

My first FF8 was FF8, so it’s very close to my heart. My other two favourites are FF6 and FF10! πŸ˜€

      • FF4 is def. worth playing. It has a very good story. I checked to be sure, but apparently, I have 3 copies of the game. A GBA-port, the DS-edition and the PSP ultimate edition. FF12 is lovely, it’s the story about Yuna πŸ™‚
As far as I can remember I haven’t played neither 6, 8 or 10, but I do have FF6-GBA and FF10-PS2. I really should settle down and do some gaming again!
I know, right, they are so hard to get, those older games! A few years back I went on a buying spree on eBay, so most of my games come from there. Back in the day I was able to do a great many deals. Too many to play, actually, but oh well, one must have an obsession I guess πŸ˜›

      • Ooops, I meant to say I haven’t played FF3! hehe, yes I’ve played FF4. πŸ™‚
Do you mean FFX-2? Because FF12 is about Vaan and Ashe!

Oooh, you should definitely lay FF10! It’s such a beautiful game – in narrative and music! πŸ˜€

Hahaha, I hear you! Since I live in NZ, I guess what is accessible is a bit limited! Ah well. One day, I shall play them. One day. πŸ˜€

      • Haha, I got my numbers wrong apparently πŸ˜€ So, I have played Yuna but not yet Vaan. Which means that I’ve yet to play the XII-game. Guess the X-2 had me confused there..
But on the whole, I can’t rememer ever playing a FF that wasn’t great. Even the old FF1, which has a really simple story and all, is so much fun.

      • Oooh yes, okay! Oh well if you’ve played FFX-2, you’d definitely love FFX. FFX-2 is super fun and awesome, but FFX has a really deep story.

Haha, so true! I haven’t played any and disliked them. I’m pretty excited for FF15 too – been waiting for 8 years for that one!

      • I think so too! Have you seen the demos? I especially love the one when Noctis does a summon. I was screaming with excitement! ehehe.

Hahahahaha I should too! But sometimes tackling FF’s is such a daunting task because they could be 30 – 80 hours!

      • They do look awesome! God I love summons! Just a shame that it will be on ps4. Don’t really see me buying one.. Will have to persuade the brother then πŸ˜›
Yes, they take long and are so hard! I like a challenge though, but the games I like are not good for my self-esteem in terms of game accomplishment xD

      • Me too!! They’re one of my favourite parts of the game. πŸ˜€ I don’t have a console either, I mostly game on PC unfortunately… though when FF15 releases, I might consider investing in one!

You’re right! Oh? what other games do you play? πŸ˜€ I think as long as you enjoy a game, that is more than enough! πŸ™‚

      • That’s the spirit! If I had to quit playing a game because I couldn’t finish it, I wouldn’t play any game.. πŸ˜›
Next to FF, I adore (adore!) Legend Of Zelda and Kingdom Hearts. I believe we have all the games possible of those three, on all the consoles we own. I also really like those tactical games in the vein of FF Tactics, so things like Fire Emblem and such. Etrian Odyssey is also really good, but once again I suck at it. Disgaea, oh I love the humour in there! And Golden Sun, also sublime.
When I feel like it, I do some Tomb Raider, but while I like it, I don’t love it like the others.

And of all those games, I have finished none. Some I got really close, though πŸ˜›
You played any of these? Or have any good recommendations? Love to hear! πŸ˜€

      • Oooh good choices! I personally haven’t played Zelda, Fire Emblem and FF Tactics, but some of my closest friends love them and have been trying to get me to play them for yeaaaars. I love Kingdom Hearts too! Only played KH1 and KH2 though, since I didn’t have any of the consoles for the other games. 😦

I’ll make a note of all those games! I had a read up and it sounds like most of them are story driven (I loooove) so I’ll keep tabs on them, hehehe. Thanks! πŸ˜€

Hmmm my recommendations are mostly for the PC, but at the moment I’m super obsessed with Life is Strange (such a good game!), and best games of this year for me have been Borderlands 1, 2, Pre-Sequel, Transistor, Child of Light, and the Dragon Age series! πŸ˜€ But I really, really recommend Life is Strange!

      • I can really recommend Zelda! Think you’ll really like that. Tactics and Fire Emblem is different but I like it. It’s like fantasy chess of sorts.
KH 1 & 2 are the best in the series. While the games on the other platforms are a nice addition to the story, the Big Games are superb.
Thanks for your recommendations. Apart from Dragon Age I’ve never heard of any of them. I’ll do some research, love to find new gems πŸ˜€

      • I think so too! I might just have to borrow my friend’s games and play them, hehe. πŸ™‚
Haha yes! My friend sat me down one day and made me watch a 20 minutes summary of the KH plot. It was so intense, haha.

Dragon Age is probably one of the best RPGs I’ve played! The first is good, the second is average, but the third one (Dragon Age Inquisition) is incredible. I’d definitely check that one out! πŸ˜€
